drive bys

a friend's 4 year old daughter has a new favorite hobby--drive by farting. she thinks it's the best time in the world when she opens the car window and squeezes her whoopee cushion at people on the street, in other cars. that is the height of comedy for her.

any suggestions for other fun and non-life threatening drive bys she can do?

bugs are icky

a number of years ago i was at one of those big box pet stores, just cruising around looking at what was in the glass cases. on the right, at about eye level, was a case labeled as containing a giant african millipede. all i saw was a bunch of cedar chips and a dark lump in the corner. disregarding the signs telling me not to, i tapped on the glass. one time. nothing. two times, nothing. but as i reached up to tap a third time, (remember, this thing is at my eye level) a great, black leviathan reared up out of the corner of the case, opened its deadly mandibles, pointed roughly 250 feet at my and hissed the most unearthly sound ever. needless to say, i screamed like a little girl, jumped straight up 3 feet and ran away as fast as i could.

rounding the corner away from all the glass cases i encountered a store employee who correctly interpreted my speed and panicked expression with the one-word question:

"Millipede?"

i can't believe i MISSED this

i guess i never got the memo, but this last saturday, 3 may, was FREE COMIC BOOK DAY!!! who knew such a thing existed. i guess i will have to wait a whole nuther year for this to come back around.

but seriously people, how cool is it that there is a day for this?!?

for the last few months we have had folks working on a new bathroom for our house. when it is done i will have pictures up cuz it will be cool. until then, here is the current bathroom
